Question:

salaams. I will like to know if it is permissible to use jinns whether they coo you and offer their service or if amaals are done to invoke them, and if it is permissible to go to such people for help. there are also those people who don’t use jinns but use sticks to jaare and say that it is fire that they are using to get rid of the jinns and help people, is this also permissible and permissible to go to them for help. I will like very much if you could educate me on this insha allaah.

Answer:

Assalamu Alaikum,

If good jinns come on their own to assist a person in repelling evil, then it is permissible as long as nothing is done by the jinn or person that contradicts the beliefs and practices of Islam.

It is not permissible to do A’maal to invoke them or to take control of them. If one is affected with evils, then one must do whatever is in accordance to the guidelines given by the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) to get rid of such evils. There are many duas, verses of the Holy Quran which can be read to remove evils. One should also begin to obey the commands of Allah and worship Him as a believer is recommended to do. If one does these things, then evils will go away from the person. If after all of these, the evil does not go, then as a last resort one can go to such a person for help provided the person does not do or say anything that contradicts the teachings of Islam.

With respect to the use of sticks, some scholars have mentioned that if these are used as only a help in getting rid of the evil jinns etc. and one has the correct belief regarding these, then it is permissible. So, if these people are doing that which is correct, then it is permissible to go to them in removing evils.
