ENTERTAINING A PROPOSAL IN IDDAH
QUESTION:
As Salaamu Alaikum,
I wanted to know: in your fatwa it says that a woman cannot marry or send a proposal to someone during her iddah. However, can she entertain a proposal? (i.e meet with a man, in a halal way, for the purpose of getting to know him once her iddah is completed?) Jazaak Allah for your time
ANSWER:
Wa Alaikum As Salaam,
No. It is not permissible for her to entertain a proposal when she is in her iddah. This means that it would not be allowed for her to be introduced to one who may be interested in her, or even be in contact with that person.
