QUESTION:

Can a husband give 3 divorces over the phone at the same time?
ANSWER:
Wa Alaikumus Salaam
Giving 3 divorces at one time, whether it is over the phone or face to face, is reprehensible and considered an innovation or an innovated type of divorce. This is not encouraged in Islam, and a husband is instructed to refrain from giving divorce to his wife in this manner.
However, if the husband does it and gives 3 divorces at one time over the phone (to his wife), then it will take effect, and 3 divorces will occur upon her.
