QUESTION:

As Salaam brother,

In ruku or sujood, if my clothes shift such that my boxers can be seen, but no skin is exposed (the boxers are still covering the skin underneath), is my awrah still considered covered and salah valid? I ask because I know tight clothing can expose awrah and boxers can be tight as they are elastic, but there not see through. I follow hanafi madhab.

ANSWER:

Wa Alaikum As Salaam,

Once the boxers are not moved in a way that the skin becomes visible, then your awrah will still be considered as covered and Salaah will be valid.

Although tight clothing will normally reveal the shape of the body parts, and boxers are generally tight-fitted, as long as the actual body/skin is not visible, the awrah will be considered as covered.

However, allowing yourself to be in a situation where your boxers become visible is Salah, is totally reprehensible, since this is your undergarment /underclothes which you won’t allow to be visible in front of people. If this happens, you will be ashamed, especially if people see it. As such, you must be more precautious in Salah since you are standing in front of Allah, and He is looking at you.

And Allah Knows best
