Azaan and Iqaamah given by someone without a Beard.

Question:

A person shaves his beard as well as a young boy whose beard has not grown out as yet. Is it proper for them to call out the Azan and Iqaamah or not?

Answer:

A person who shaves his beard is committing a sin, and as such to appoint him to call out the Azan and Iqaamah is Makhrooh Tahrimi. However if he calls out the Azan or Iqaamah it will not be Wajib to repeat it. As for the young boy (minor) whose beard has not grown out as yet, if he is sensible and has full understanding of the Azan and Iqaamah and has full knowledge of the timings of the Salaat then it is proper for him to call out the Azaan and Iqaamah.

As for those under him (a minor who does not have full understanding) then it is not proper for him to call out the Azan and Iqaamah. If he does then it should be repeated. A person who is Baligh (i.e. one who has reached the age of puberty) and his beard does not grow, he can call Azan and Iqaamah.
