I.V. while fasting.
Question:
What is the shariah ruling regarding an I.V. while fasting, does it break the fast?
Answer:
No, an I.V. does not break the fast. The reason being that an I.V. is a type of injection which is placed into the vein. That which breaks the fast is the entering of anything through a natural and direct, passage to the brains or stomach.
Something placed in the veins or bloodstream is not a direct passage, therefore injections in general and also in I.V. would not break the fast.
