Answer:

Wa Alaikumus Salaam

The best way to make-up for the missed salaah is that you should make a roster of all the salaah which have been missed. In this, you would identify each of the five salaah per day for each week, each month and each year. For example, you can make up a chart in the following manner:

JANUARY 2002

FAJR

ZUHR

ASR

MAGHRIB

ISHA

WITR

1st Jan

X

X

2nd Jan

3rd Jan

4th Jan

Make the roster for the years which you have not performed salaah and keep on ticking the relevant box. In this way, you will continue to make up for the missed salaah. In doing Qaza in this manner, you will need to have the niyyah of the specific salaah for the day/month/year you are performing.

If you cannot remember as to which salaah you missed and when these were missed, then you can regularly perform Qaza salaah for each of the five daily salaah with the intention that you are making Qaza of a missed salaah (fajr, zuhr, Asr etc) in the past. Keep on doing this until you believe that you would have completed all your missed salaah.

With respect to the second question, there are many verses in the Holy Quraan and traditions that speak about those people who will be honored to gain entry into paradise. All these verses and traditions put together, make it abundantly clear that for entry into paradise one must have firm/true/sincere belief in Allah and His messenger, Muhammad (S.A), and do righteous actions.

Belief in Allah means that one must believe in everything which Allah has ordered one to believe in, to refrain from beliefs associated with Kufr/Shirk, to believe in, and accept what Allah has made halal as being halal, and believe in, and accept what Allah has made haram as being haram.

Belief in Allah also entails that one must worship Allah alone and place his total trust and reliance upon Him.

One must be true to Allah in his words and deeds, and must not be a hypocrite or a ‘double face’ person. One must also love that which Allah loves and dislike that which is disliked by Allah. In a similar manner, one must love those whom Allah loves and dislike those whom Allah dislikes.

Belief in the Prophet Muhammad (S.A) means that one must believe that the Prophet (S.A) is the final and last prophet after whom no prophet will come. With him, religion came to a completion and revelation come to an end.

One must believe in, and accept all the teachings of the Prophet (S.A) and practice upon these.

One must love the Prophet (S.A), be obedient to him and follow is blessed teachings.

Doing good actions means that one engages in, and practices those actions and deeds which Islam has endorsed as being good and righteous.

Doing good actions incorporates every type of good actions that should be done in all aspects of one’s life. This includes the teaching that one must be good in one’s conduct to one’s parents, spouse, children, relatives, neighbours and all others with whom one may interact.

Doing righteous actions also includes the way one speaks, and the things one say. One must refrain from all that which is haram, whether it is about controlling one’s gaze, listening, tongue and even the thoughts that enter the hearts. Doing good actions (Aamal As Salihaah) requires one to continuously beg for Allah’s forgiveness and to repent to Him for the wrongs done in one’s life. Turning to Him in supplication and prayer is essential for the believer, and achieving closeness to Him should be the desire for every believer.

One who is desirous of Jannah should live one’s life in a manner that one gains Allah’s pleasure. One should clothe oneself with that which is permissible and in a manner which is permissible. Haya (modesty and shyness) should be deep-rooted in every nerve of the believer so that he conducts himself in a modest manner.

The things one does for a living and the pleasures and comforts one seeks must always be in accordance to that which is pleasing to Allah. The human qualities of being kind, caring, compassionate, charitable and good-treatment to others must be a part of the life of those who are desirous of paradise.

Allah says in the Holy Quraan, ‘Verily, those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them will be (Jannat) gardens beneath which rivers flows (Paradise). That is the great success’. (Sura Al Buruj (85) Verse 11)
