Network Hacking
Q: Salamu alaikum, ya shaikh, i have a question. You know there are network hackers. I will talk of of own country. Here some hackers provide some proxy network settings. You just have to set that settings in your mobile phone or in your pc, and you can have access to internet for free. Since network owners allow access to internet only when you pay a certain fixed money towards. But by setting proxy settings you dont have to pay a single penny to the network owners. Does it come under the category of haram, if we browse internet for free ?
A: Wa alaikum As Salaam,
It will not be permissible for you to hack into a person’s network setting or one which is owned by a company in order to get free internet access. Hacking is illegal and hence, one must refrain from doing this simply to avoid paying money for internet services.
Everything has a cost in it, and it is fair and just in Islam that if you use the facility of a company’s network, you should pay for this service. You should not try to do anything that is deemed illegal by the company. If however, there is free access to the internet available for people in certain places like shops, malls, different areas etc., then it will be permissible to use from that which is available to the public or to the customers.
