Attributes of Human Beings Created or Not
Q: I was reading that Allah attributes are uncreated but in ayat ul Kursi it says that we do not have any knowledge except that which Allah permits. I know Allah’s knowledge is eternal and I believe Allah creates knowledge for humans because none of Allah’s attributes can be within a human but I just wanted peace of mind. Is human attributes of mercy, anger, love, knowledge etc. created or uncreated? Also, I read that the Quran is uncreated in word and meaning but human speech is created. Does the Quran maintain its status as uncreated even when I am reciting it? JazakAllah
A: Assalamu alaikum,
All the attributes of humans are created. As such, qualities like mercy, anger, love, knowledge etc. have all been created and placed in human beings by Allah. The Quran is the speech of Allah which is not created. Allah’s speech has always been with him from eternity and so it is not a created thing. Human speech is created and so, when one recites the Quran, he is reciting it with his created human speech.
In all cases, the Quran which is the speech of Allah remains uncreated.
