Question:
As-Salāmu ‘Alaikum,
I was aroused before salaah and then I was put forward to lead the salah. I felt a little possible wetness as was about to start and I was standing at the musalla, I was not sure. I lead the salah and when walking after I felt wetter. I later checked and it was Madhi (pre-seminal fluid) on my underpants. It was less than the hollow of my palm in total. But now I’m concerned about if the salah was valid. And what about the congregation that prayed behind me. Please advise and make dua for me.
Answer:
الجواب وبالله التوفيق
In the above mentioned situation, since you were aroused before Salāh began and felt a wetness, then later discovered madhi (pre-seminal fluid) on your underpants after Salāh, it would be presumed that the emission occurred before or during the Salāh and as such, it is necessary to be repeated.
In this regard, the great Faqīh, ‘Allāmah Tāhir Al-Bukhārī writes,
إذا شكّ فى الصلوة وتيقن بالندوة بعد الفراغ من الصلوة، يجب عليه إعادة الصلوة.
“If a person is doubtful (of the emission of droplets) during Salāh and, after completion he is now certain of the wetness/moisture, it will be necessary to repeat the Salāh.” (Khulāsatul-Fatāwā, 1/77, Rashīdiyyah)
Therefore, your Salāh as well as that of the congregation became invalid. You are required to repeat your Salāh and also inform the congregation to repeat that particular Salāh on their own.
