Fasting of a Pregnant woman.
Q. I heard a Khateeb during a Khutbah say that the Pregnant and nursing woman does not have to fast during Ramadhan, however he went further to say that they are not required to make up these fasts, since it is sufficient for them to pay the fidya, and they are in the same category of the old, and the sick. Is this the correct Hukum for the pregnant woman? Please advise.
A. No, such is not the correct ruling for those women. Although it is permissible for them to delay the fast, it is essential for them to make it up as Qaza afterwards. This allowance is only for those who are old, sick and have no hope of recovery so that they can make up the fast as Qaza.
