Is it ok to use a picture of someone to represent them on caller i.d. on a cell phone?

Answer:

Wa Alaikum As Salaam,

All the great and reliable scholars have considered ‘pictures’ to be totally haram (on account of the many ahadith that condemn it). Hence, it will not be permissible to have the picture of someone on the cell phone or caller’s ID (since these are pictures also).
