IS THE UTTERANCE OF TALAQ ‘TWICE’ CONSTITUTE ONE OR TWO DIVORCE.

QUESTION:

As Salaamu Alaikum,

If a husband pronounced one talaq in one instance and in anger pronounced 2 talaq consecutively in another instance. Does the second time he pronounced talaq count as one or two? Is the wife completely divorced or can it still be revoked if she is still in the Iddah period?

ANSWER:

Wa Alaikum As Salaam,

The second time he pronounced 2 talaq (divorce), it will be considered as two and not one. Therefore, in total, he has pronounced three talaq to you. You are now divorced completely from him with three divorces, and it is not permissible for him to revoke the divorce even though you are in your iddah period.
