Praying behind a person who sings Tazeem.
Q. Is it permissible to pray behind a person who is involved in singing Tazeem and going Maulood functions?
A. The act of singing and standing for the ‘Customary Tazeem’, as well as, the ‘hosting of Maulood Functions’ are all considered to be innovated actions, by the majority of sound and reliable scholars of the past and present. One who participates in these acts is in reality, taking part in practices that have not been preached in Islam, and are thus reprehensible. According to the majority of scholars, it will be Makrooh (reprehensible) to perform Salaah behind one who is involved in these practices. One should avoid this.
If however, one has performed Salaah behind such a person, then his Salaah will be valid and accepted. (Rad’dul Muhtar Chap. on Imamah; Al Bahr Ar Raiq-Chap. on Imamah; Fatawa Raheemiya vol. 1 pg. 165, col.4 pg.349; Fatawa Haqaaniya vol.3 pg. 132, vol.3 pg.157).
