As Salaamu Alaikum,

Question:

What is the ruling of the imam of fiqh about the sutrah?

Wa Alaikum As Salam Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh

Answer:

Bismillahi Wa Billahi At Tawfeeq

The sutrah should atleast be an arms length and no more than 3 arms length. The sutrah should be as thick as a finger. It should be placed into the ground if possible. In other words, the sutrah should be vertical and not horizontal. If it is not possible to place it into the ground, then it may be placed on the surface lengthwise.
