RULING OF WETNESS WHEN AROUSED

QUESTION:

As Salaamu Alaikum,

So there’s a friend of mine who asked me this question but I wasn’t too sure on how to go about answering it If someone gets arouse easily you and gets wet each time and has to pray salaah does the person have to make ghusl every time ?

ANSWER:

Wa Alaikum As Salaam,

The wetness the person experiences is known as ‘Al Madhi’ which normally occurs when one is aroused. This is not the seminal discharge (Al Manni) which one experiences at the time of sexual relations or in a ‘wet dream’, and requires the ghusl (compulsory bath).

In the case of this wetness (which the person experiences when aroused), the ruling is that wudhu is broken by its emission (if one was in the state of wudhu). As such, one will wash off the wetness which is on the private part and on the clothing, and perform wudhu when one is intending to perform Salah. There is no need to take a ghusl (bath) when this is experienced. (However, as stated before, it must be washed off from the body and also from the clothing which it touches, since it is impure.
