QUESTION:
As Salaamu Alaikum,
Can you tell me please what is Islam’s view on persons such as psychics / mediums or anyone generally, who claim abilities such as: –
Clairvoyance
Claircognizance
Clairaudience
Clairempathy
Clairsentience
Clairtangency
Specialist Telepathy & Remote Viewing
Thanks a lot.
ANSWER:
Wa Alaikum As Salaam,
All the above are connected to the claims that one can perceive things and events in the future, one can know things based on one’s inner guidance without external explanations, and one can perceive things that are not normally perceived through the five senses. It is also the claim of knowing what is in someone’s mind without communicating with that person.
All these are not acceptable in Islam, and a Muslim is prohibited from becoming involved in any of the above, or even visiting such people for help. Statements and claims made by people who are involved in the above, cannot be accepted as the truth, according to the teachings of Islam.
And Allah Knows best
