QUESTION:

As Salaamu Alaikum,

If I missed my Zuhr salah and Asr time comes in, do I pray Asr first, as it came in, and then pray my missed Zuhr salah, or do I have to pray my missed salah first .jazakallah

Al Jawaab wa Billahi At-Tawfeeq

ANSWER:

Wa Alaikum As Salaam,

According to the Hanafi Madhhab, Tarteeb (sequence) is essential (waajib) in the fulfilment of the five obligatory salaah along with the Witr salaah, and also in the making up of these salaah if missed (Qadhaa). This is for one who is considered as Saahib ut-Tarteeb (i.e. one who has not missed six consecutive salaah in his lifetime). If however, a person missed 6 consecutive salaah during his lifetime, then it is not obligatory upon him to make up his salaah in sequence.

As such, if you are considered as Saahib ut-Tarteeb, then it is essential that you make up the missed salaah before the performance of the following Fardh.

(Radd Al-Muhtaar, 2/633-638, Qadeemi)

(Al Bahr Ar-Raaiq, 2/140-153, Rasheediyyah)

(Kitaabul Masaail, 1/321, Darul-Ishaat)

And Allah Knows Best.
