Should the forehead or nose touch the ground first in Sujood?

Assalaam u Alaikum Mufti,
While performing sujood in salaat, does the forehead or the tip of the nose touch the ground firstly, and while raising from sujood is it same or different, or is does not matter.

Jazak Allah

Wa Alaikum Assalaam,

الجواب و بالله التوفيق

For the validity of Sujood, it does not matter whether the forehead or the tip of the nose touches the ground first or which one is raised from the ground first. Both can touch at the same time, or one can touch before the other. Similarly, both parts can be raised at the same time or one can be raised before the other.

In a case where one touches before the other, some of the Fuqaha (Jurists) have mentioned that the forehead should touch the ground before the tip of the nose. In this regard, the great Hanafi Jurist Shaikh Zada has mentioned, ‘And in ‘Tuhfa’, it says that one should place his forehead and then his nose, and it is said that one can place the both at the same time.’ (Majma’ Al Anhur Fi Sharh Multaqa Al Abhur Vol.1, Pg. 147, Maktaba Al Manar Queta Pakistan).

And Allah Knows Best.

Mufti Waseem Khan.
