Status Of One’s Imaan When Thoughts Of Kufr Are Present.
Mufti,
I am trying really hard to abide by Allah’s laws and that is proving difficult for me and because I fear Allah, I find myself desiring kufr and to be a kafir because it looks easier to not care about halal and haram. But although I feel these thing I fight it and don’t accept it because I know it is hated by Allah. Do I become a kafir by these thoughts because I read if someone wants to be a kafir, they automatically exit the fold of Islam?
Wa Alaikum As Salaam,
No, you will not become a Kaafir by these thoughts. These are evil promptings that are from Satan. Whenever such thoughts come to your mind, you should recite “A’ouzu Billahi Minash Shaitanir Rajeem” frequently. Make some time every day to recite the Holy Quran; to recite the first Kalimah (frequently) and to make istighfar by saying Astaghfirullah, in abundance. Insha Allah, these will help tremendously. You should also try to read beautiful books on Islam. Put aside some time to read parts everyday.
And Allah Knows Best.
Mufti Waseem Khan.
