When should one perform Sajdah of recitation?

Assalaamu Alaikum,
I was reciting Quran and a verse requiring Sujood came, but it was sunrise and I know it is not allowed to make Salaah. I didn’t do Sujood. What is your opinion on this?  Should Sujood be avoided at sunrise, sunset and midday?

A:

Wa Alaikum As Salaam,

Yes, the sajdah of tilawah (sajdah of recitation) should be avoided at the times of sunrise, sunset and midday, because these are the makrooh times for performing both the Fardh and Nafl salaah. Hence, the sajdah of tilawah should not be done at these times. If one recites a verse requiring sajdah at any of these times, one should delay a little until the makrooh time finishes and then do the sajdah. (Al Hidaya).

However, if one recites a Verse requiring sajdah at the other two makrooh times like that of after Fajr salah until sunrise, or after Asr  salah  until sunset, then it will be allowed for one to do the sajdah at that time, since during these times one can perform missed salah (qadha). Only the Nafl salah is prohibited at these times. (Al Hidaya).
