QUESTION:

As Salaamu Alaikum,

I would like to know if the following is a true Hadith.  “If one informs another about Ramadan first, then hell fire will become forbidden for that individual.”

ANSWER

Wa Alaikum As Salaam,

The statement you have asked about which says: –

‘If one informs another about Ramadhan first, then hell fire will become forbidden for that individual’ is not a hadith or a narration of any of the Sahabahs (companion).

In fact, this statement cannot be found in any book of Hadith, Seerah or Fiqh, and no one from among the reliable scholars of the past and present has narrated it in any of their books on the virtues of Ramadhan.

It is for this reason, many scholars have regarded the above as a lie and fabrication upon the Prophet (S.A.S), since it cannot be found anywhere in any book of Ahadith.

Therefore, it is not permissible to spread such statement to others or narrate it to anyone, since the Prophet (S.A.S) said, ‘Verily, lying upon me is not like lying upon others. For whoever lies upon me intentionally, let him make his abode in the fire of Hell’. (Bukari Hadith No. 1229).
